Race Report: MEC’s The Grand Banana @ Garry Point

Recap: November 16th 8am, Garry Point:  Frosty conditions did not deter many members from participating in MEC’s The Grand Banana race along the west dyke.    I am not listing the names of the members that participated in the 4 distances (5k, 10k, half marathon & marathon) in fear of missing anyone off the list.    SAA had a table near the start/finish line.   It was a huge success with great exposure of our club.  Racers and spectators came by our booth to enquire about our club and Tri BC.

It was nice to have this local event well attended by our members, including those that did not race but came to show their support and help.   Kudos to everyone.   Here are a few shots.  Unfortunately, many members missed the photo op.

This Sunday, November 30th, please consider supporting our sponsor, The Run Inn, with their “RunINN the Woods” fundraising run (by donation) on an 8km trail run or 3k trail walk  in Pacific Spriit Park.   It’s a no frills run: no race number, no official timing, and no results.    All proceeds to BC Cancer Foundation.   Breakfast at The Run Inn, 2331 W.41st, Vancouver, after the event.     Our club run will be at the same locale.  Start is at Southlands Elementary School at 38th/Camosun.  Same place we meet when we do bike hill repeats.   Erin has also posted an additional 6km route on the calendar that can be used as an add-on to make the run 14kms total for anyone interested.    Everyone is invited.  Hope to see many members this Sunday.
