DUE TO A LOWER THEN EXPECTED RESPONSE, WE HAVE DECIDED TO CANCEL THIS FALLS CLUB CHALLENGE. SAA MAY LOOK TO HOLD THIS EVENT IN THE SPRING.

This Sunday October 2nd, we’ll be hosting the First Annual Steveston Athletic Association / South Delta Triathlon Club 5k Challenge. Come show your club spirit, wear your club colors and partake in a fun 5k race with our your fellow club members and our good friends across the river. This Challenge is for club bragging rights and an excuse to get as many members from both clubs out for a short fun run and refreshments. If you’re a member of both clubs and then you can choose which club you represent, heck you can even represent both clubs.

Here are the important deatils:

When: Sunday October 2nd
Time: Race Start at 8:30 am, refreshments to follow
Location: On Boardwalk just south of the Steveston Starbucks (corner of #1 Road and Bayview Avenue)

Club Challenge details: This will be a 5k out and back run starting on the boardwalk across from Starbucks in Steveston. The race will start at 8:30 running east along the boardwalk, around the pond to the dyke using the gravel path. There will be a bike escorting the lead runner to the turnaround point.

To limit the number of volunteers we will ask each runner to record their own time and then register it with the race director at the finish line. The winning club will be determined by a combination of the average time for each of the two clubs plus a bonus time based on club participation. The winning club will be announced at the club house where post race refreshments and snacks will be supplied. Club house is two blocks east of Starbucks, 12333 English Ave.

Our fellow SAA member, Dr. Debbie, has graciously offered her backyard for the SAA Summer Family BBQ.

Date: Sunday August 21, 2011
Time: 5pm
Location: 10617 Canso Crescent, Richmond BC

Hotdogs and Hamburgers (meat and veggie options), non-alcoholic drinks, fruit and veggies will be served.

Appetizers, salads and desserts will be potluck (bring your famous dish). BYOB.
