Race Report & Team BC

Vancouver Triathlon – September 5, 2011

It was an early morning start for racers and the many SAA volunteers looking after the transition at the Vancouver Triathlon this past long weekend. In the Olympic distance race, Naiely Cabrera and Kirsten Romney took over the 20 to 24 age category finishing 2nd and 4th respectively and Jane De Lemos took top spot her age group. The SAA has some very talented women. And in the Sprint distance event, we had Giulio Diserio racing. Finally, a big thanks goes out to all those who volunteered.

Triathlon BC - TEAM BC

Triathlon BC recently recognize those athletes who have achieved a high level of excellence at Provincial Championship events by announcing its BC Team.  On the 2011 Provincial Long Distance Triathlon Team are Michelle Horstmann, Stephen Ptucha, and Naiely Cabrera who also took home the award of Provincial Champion in her age group.  A big congratulations on a well deserved award!

Race Report – Longest Day Run – 17 June

We had fun on Friday night with a whole bunch of SAA members & friends taking on the Longest Day road race at UBC. Congratulations to SAA members Jim Bodden, Les Pereria, Susan Gelinas, Joanne Fox (that’s me), and Jane De Lemos who all raced the event!

If you haven’t done this race before, you should put it on your calendar. It’s got a great friendly vibe and has the best post-race food you’ll ever see. Stephen took this “action” photo to prove it.  They had cheesecake and ice cream for dessert, for pete’s sake.  That’s my kind of race!
