December Race Reports
Again, we are proving the concept of ‘off season’ to be out of fashion! Here’s to another great month of races by SAA members.
On December 1st, Joanne F raced Ironman Cozumel. After some stormy weather in the days leading up to the race, the organizers decided to shorten the swim to 3.1kms (from 3.8kms). The bike and run route remained the same. High winds made for a challenging swim and a gusty bike and run but Joanne raced hard! Amazing results from our amazing club President. A PR and finished a strong 6th in her age group.

On the same day, down in Seattle, we had 4 SAA members running the Seattle Marathon and Half Marathon. Congratulations to Les P, Tiffany C and Dan Mc for great races in the Half Marathon.
Tracy M, our resident Marathon Manic, completed the marathon and ran the Ghost of Seattle Marathon the day before also.
Tracy reports: “I ran a double this weekend which included the Seattle Ghost Marathon on Saturday and the Seattle Marathon on Sunday. Luckily the weather co-operated and we had no rain on both days!! Seattle always provides beautiful areas for running and this weekend was no exception. Both races had great support, with frequent aid stations and enthusiastic volunteers – a tiring but fun weekend!”
On December 14, in sunny, hot and humid Honolulu Hawaii, we had two marathoners running the Honolulu Marathon. Congratulations to Amanda H who didn’t think she was going to be able to run because of an injury but was able to run during the event. Congratulations to Dianne K who came 1st in her age group.
Great month of racing and the month isn’t even over yet. 🙂
