Swim,Bike,Run – The SAA Does It All!

Another jam packed weekend for many SAA members.

Swim Across The Lake took place on Saturday. Kelowna’s annual Interior Savings Across The Lake Swim is the largest and longest continuously running open water swim event in Canada. Swimmers complete a 2.1 km swim from the Old Ferry Docks in West Kelowna to Hot Sands Beach in City Park Kelowna.

Congrats to Rob H, Rob F, Al, Suzy, Dan, Jan, Joanne, Richard, Heather Y, Tammy for participating.
Super fans included Lucy, Tiffany, Leslie, Ger, Ken, David, and Joel

“Perfect conditions for a great event! We’ll be sporting our new flip flops and swim caps at swimming next week.” reported club president, Joanne F.

On Sunday, Tracy M was doing the Wild Thing Summer Thing Marathon at Lake Padden, Wa. All participants wear a dress and red lipstick then run 10 laps around the lake and do a silly “task” (eg. eat weird food, do cart wheels, act like a seagull, jump in the lake!) after each lap.

“It was a lot of fun but not particularly fast!” reported Tracy.

And in Penticton, club members were participating in The 2013 INVESTORS.ca Peach Classic Triathlon. The 31st running of this long standing event.

“Racing at the Peach today was David H., Dan, Joel, Joanne F., Nicole, Suzy, Leslie and Tammi. Super fans, Tiffany and Rob H. were on hand cheering the all racers on. The weather was sunny and warm. In fact the lake was so warm that there was no wetsuits allowed in the swim portion. Fortunately, our weekly wetsuit-free sessions with swim coach Tracy had us well prepared. Everyone did really well! The scenery on the race course is beautiful and there was lots of high-fives on the run. Joel was a big winner in the draw prizes. This event was really well organized and lots of fun. Let’s go race it again next year!” reported Joanne F
