Richmond Sports Awards – Congratulations to Linda, Tracy and Rob
Congratulations to our SAA members: Linda Hilts, Tracy Marshall and Rob Forbes who were honored tonight at the Richmond Sports Awards!
Tracy Marshall â€“ Nominated in the Adult Female Athlete of the Year Category!
Tracy Marshall started off the 2012 racing season by completing her 51st (ultra)marathon distance race with a 50km race in Seattle. In 2012, Tracy completed 30 marathon or ultramarathon distance events! After an excellent year of running, Tracy completed her 80th marathon on December 31st, 2012. Tracy finished this amazing year of racing accomplishments by running three marathons in a row: the Seattle Locks Fat Ass marathon on December 30th, 2012; the Last Chance Marathon on December 31st, 2012 and the First Call Marathon on Jan 1st. Tracy is truly an inspiring athlete â€“ racing almost every weekend and consistently coming to the Steveston Athletic Association (SAA) club runs to train and share her racing stories. A highlight of Tracyâ€™s year of running in 2012 included her Boston Qualifying time at the Tunnel Lite Marathon in North Bend, WA. In 2012, she completed marathons in 10 different provinces or states.
Linda Hilts â€“ Richmond Sports Awards – Nominated in the Administrator Category
In 2012, Linda Hilts has volunteered as the treasurer and membership coordinator for Steveston Athletic Association (SAA). Linda has served in this role for the past five years providing leadership and service to the SAA helping to start this running & triathlon club in Richmond. Linda also played a key role in hosting and organizing events for the SAA, including socials, technical coaching, events at our sponsors and pancake breakfasts for members.Â Linda is also an active athlete. In 2012, she ran three half marathons (BMO Vancouver Half Marathon, Scotiabank Vancouver Half Marathon, and the Sea Wheeze Lululemon Half Marathon) and two marathons (San Francisco Marathon and the Bellingham Bay Marathon). She qualified for the 2013 NY City Marathon with her strong performance at the BMO Vancouver Half Marathon.
Last, but not least, Rob Forbes was awarded Coach of the Year! Rob started coaching many of the girls on this year’s McMath volleyball team in grade 8 and now many of them are graduating with him (he retires this year). Congratulations Rob, what a way to head into retirement!
