Oliver Half Ironman
What an great race atmosphere it was up in Oliver this weekend! Close to 40 SAA racers, family, friends, and supporters traveled up to the Okanagon to participate in the Oliver Half Ironman weekend. Everyone had a great day on Sunday with many personal best times and lots of fun. We were definitely one of the largest (and most fun) groups up there.
Congratulations to SAA members Andy, Barton, David H., Debbie, Dianne, Erin, Grand, Jan, Jean Michel, Joanne, Joel, Les, Rob H., Rob B., Steven P., Suzy and Tammi who all raced very well this weekend. SDTC and SAA friends also had a good day at the races with Alison, Don, Gary, Jim, and Kevin all racing well. A special congratulations to Dianne, Grand, Suzy, Jean Michel, Rob B., Debbie and Tammi who completed their first half ironman. It’s a big deal to finish a half iron man event (2km+ swim, 90k+ bike, and 21+km run), especially for the first time. Well done everyone! We are all very proud of you.
Our cheering squad was the best out there on the roads. Thanks to Al, Andrew & Anna, Brian, Jennifer & Jeff, Judy, Ken, Larry & Lillian, Lori, Michelle, Nicole, Rob & Heather, Sonja, Linda who joined fellow SAA racers and their families in cheering us on. Your cheering (and all the training we do together) helped us to be our best out there! Our group had a couple of excellent age group performances – with Joanne and Alison placing 1st and 2nd in their age groups. Don H. was also 1st in his age category. Congratulations to the many SAA members who had a personal best performances.
We look forward to seeing everyone out at an SAA training session sometime soon wearing their Oliver “finisher” t-shirts with pride. If you have race photos, you can send them to firstname.lastname@example.org and I’ll post them here. If I missed your name, please send me a note so I can add you to our post and celebrate your accomplishment.
