Race Report 26 September 2010

On Saturday was the final race in the 5 peaks BC Coastal Trail Running Series.  The 5 Peaks courses cover single-track, hiking and cross country trails, with elevation gain varying according to the course design. The trails are always challenging and you get to experience some of BC’s finest, most beautiful backcountry.  Pat Malaviarachchi competed in the Enduro Distance and Walter Kwan in the Sprint Distance.  Both had great races – congratulations guys.

And, today, down in Bellingham for the Bellingham Bay Marathon, a bit of a rolling hill race which highlights/ views include Lummi Island, Bellingham Bay, Mount Baker, Nooksack River, Taylor Street Dock, Fairhaven,  San Juan Islands, Interurban Trail and downtown Bellingham.

Tracy Marshall ran a Boston Qualifier time in the Full Marathon.  In the half marathon distance, “Auntie Linda” Hilts came first in her age category and Erin Lee and Bev Kong (her first race in about 3 years) did quite well.  The weather was almost perfect for a race, a bit of rain, not too cold or hot and a great rolling course with some great views.
Congratulations to all the SAA members on their great accomplishments.
